Winthrop Professor Ted Snell AM will launch Visual Arts Practice and Affect: Place Materiality and Embodied Knowing.
Join us for the launch of Visual Arts Practice and Affect: Place Materiality and Embodied Knowing, which examines how the visual arts can offer unique insights into the understanding of place, memory and affect.
- Saturday 4 February 2017
- Fremantle Arts Centre, Fremantle, WA
Written by Dr Ann Schilo, Dr Susanna Castleden, Dr Thea Costantino, Dr Anna Nazzari and Dr Anna Sabadini from Curtin University’s School of Design and Art, each contributor highlights the crucial role the visual arts play in the creation of new meanings; ones that are grounded in the practicalities, materialities and embodied knowing of artistic practice.
The launch coincides with Perth International Arts Festival and Fremantle Arts Centre exhibition, SPAN, that brings together five WA artists whose work engages with similar questions concerning the margins between personal and global, political and geographical relationships.
Artist talks (Dr Susanna Castleden)
Following the event you are invited to attend the artist talks in which Susanna Castleden along with the other exhibiting artists Olga Cironis, Tanya Lee, Clyde McGill and Andrew Sunley Smith will discuss their work.
