Curtin University of Technology will be the first Australian university to launch a Reconciliation Action Plan this Tuesday 27 May.

Curtin acknowledges the significance of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and recognises the importance of the learning and consultation process necessary to move towards a future of true equality.

As a result of this, the University in partnership with Reconciliation Australia, has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan which sets out steps that will be taken by Curtin to continue to build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

As a leader in education and research in its service to the community, Curtin recognises its role in effecting change in areas of housing, health, education, training, employment, governance, social and communal relationships, and law and justice. The University is dedicated to promoting an understanding of Indigenous culture and history; implementing strategies to effect the increased participation of Indigenous students and staff; and continuing a commitment to fostering partnerships in Indigenous research and development.

Curtin’s Reconciliation Action Plan will be launched by the Director of Reconciliation Australia, the Hon Fred Chaney AO at a function at the University.

The launch will commence at 4pm with refreshments served following the official proceedings.
