Inventors and entrepreneurs are invited to register for a Curtin University program that helps build business cases around new innovations with a view to eventual commercialisation.

Curtin Growth Ignition is a five-day non-academic program comprising of workshops, one-on-one clinics with industry experts, small group mentoring sessions and networking opportunities with successful innovators.

Now in its second year, the program is based on the successful Ignite program delivered by the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.

Richard Thorning, Director of Curtin’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, said the program is ideal for individual, corporate, government and academic innovators who are looking to take their bright idea to a commercial reality.

“Last year was our inaugural year and we saw diverse and brilliant ideas developed, including a new head-lice treatment, precision systems for applying fertilisers and software to assist teachers with their administration,” Mr Thorning said.

“Many people have great ideas but many ideas never get developed and brought to fruition.

“This program will help people develop their innovative concepts and evaluate financial feasibility, consider intellectual property issues, assess market demand and build a comprehensive business pitch for obtaining venture financing.”

Curtin Growth Ignition takes place from 19 – 24 August at the Technology Park Function Centre, Technology Park, Bentley.

Sponsored by the State Government, the event will be opened by Western Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Lyn Beazley.

The participation fees are $1,650 for individual, small business and academic delegates and $2,950 for corporate and government delegates.
