After playing to sold-out shows in Sydney, Curtin University theatre arts graduate, Andrea Gibbs returns to Perth in a critically acclaimed dark comedy entitled Eight Gigabytes of Hardcore Pornography.
Don’t let the title deter (or encourage) you – it’s not what you think it is.
Andrea is one of Perth’s most sought after comedians, a core cast member in The Big HO HAA! improv comedy group and the co-founder of one of Australia’s most popular storytelling nights, Barefaced Stories. She has also written and produced three solo shows, with the latest, Grow Up, having toured Australia and New Zealand in 2013.
Although Andrea has made a name for herself in the world of comedy, she’s stepping on stage for a more serious role in Eight Gigabytes of Hardcore Pornography.
The play follows two middle-aged people who meet through an online dating site. She is a nurse with two kids and a crushingly large amount of debt from her online shopping addiction. He’s in IT, miserable in his marriage, spending his nights vacuously trawling the Internet.
They both are looking for something, but as they quickly realise, it’s probably not each other
Andrea’s performance has been called “a revelation” by The Australian.
