About Mr Craig James
Craig James received his Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) at the University of NSW in 1984 and then a Master of Commerce (Economics) at the same University in 1988. Whilst undertaking University Studies, he joined the (then) Rural Bank, which became the State Bank over time and then Colonial, working in branches, Corporate, Planning and Economics Research. He became the Chief Economist of Colonial Group in 1997, before becoming Chief Economist at CommSec in 2000 with the Commonwealth takeover of Colonial.
In 2002 Craig joined the Australian Financial Review before re-joining the Commonwealth group as the Chief Economist at Commsec. Commsec is now the most quoted economic group in the mainstream media. Craig was appointed Adjunct Professor at Curtin Business School in 2012
