International Summer Program: Fremantle Prison Tour and Markets

Posted on

Fremantle Prison is WA’s largest convict-built prison and has a very interesting history. In a one-hour guided tour which blends its three popular public tours, you will hear about its most notorious characters and the stories that make the building so unique.

Event details

Explore one of WA’s most notorious prisons in a guided tour of Fremantle Prison, before you enjoy the sights and smells of the Fremantle markets and Fremantle cappuccino strip!

Friday 21 January 2022
10.15am to 12.30pm
Fremantle Prison
$10 per person
Fremantle Prison gatehouse

After the tour, students will be guided to the markets where they can purchase food, beverages and an array of Fremantle-made goods, or wonder further afield to explore the cappuccino strip and some of the quirky Fremantle shops.

This activity has been heavily subsidised by Curtin, so the student contribution is $10. Please bring additional money if you would like to purchase anything from the markets.

Please wear comfy shoes to walk in and bring a hat and water bottle as it will be a hot day in Fremantle and some of the tour may be outside. We encourage students not to bring valuable items including jewellery or identity documents like passports, unless they are being used as photo ID.

This activity is only available to international students currently enrolled in a course at Curtin University, continuing from 2021, or beginning in 2022.

During the activity, Curtin students are expected to behave according to the Curtin Student Charter. Please familiarise yourself with these expectations prior to registering for this activity as an inability to follow these may lead to your removal from the activity.

Places are limited so please book your spot! Please use your Curtin student email to register for the event. Registrations using non-Curtin email addresses will not be valid.
