About Jimmy Choo

Born in Malaysia in 1961, Professor Datuk Jimmy Choo followed in the footsteps of his cobbler father, making his first pair of shoes by age 11.

In the 1980’s Professor Choo moved to London where he completed his studies and opened his first shop, in 1986.

Professor Choo’s reputation grew and he established a strong relationship with Vogue magazine, eventually forming a partnership with accessories editor Tamara Yeardye Mellon to grow the business internationally.

By the late 1990’s Professor Choo had stores in London, Los Angeles and New York and his shoes were worn by a long list of celebrities, including Julia Roberts, Renee Zellweger, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

By the turn of the century, the Jimmy Choo name was firmly established as a global brand with high-end retail clients.
