The Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute will host a free public lecture by Professor Mary Ritter OBE, International Ambassador of Climate-KIC, which is Europe’s largest public-private partnership addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation. Curtin University will be involved in the formative discussions of the Australian Climate-KIC with a view to being one of the founding and core partners. This lecture aims to bring an early understanding of the Climate-KIC to academia, business and society in Perth.

By spanning the innovation life-cycle across 12 European countries, Climate-KIC has created a high-impact partnership based on more than 250 major companies, SMEs, universities, research institutes and cities, regional agencies and governments.

Climate-KIC activities focus on a key innovation pipeline, supported by a portfolio of entrepreneurship and education activities.

The goal is to accelerate the innovation required for a climate resilient low-carbon future, and ensure that Europe benefits from new technologies, company growth and jobs.

The possibility of an Australian Climate-KIC is being discussed under Mary Ritter’s leadership.

Curtin University will be involved in the formative discussions of the Australian Climate-KIC with a view to being one of the founding and core partners.

The lecture aims to bring an early understanding of the Climate-KIC to academia, business and society in Perth.

About the speaker

Mary Ritter is Professor Emeritus at Imperial College London and was Pro Rector for International Affairs from 2004 to 2011.

From 2010 to 2014 she was CEO of Climate-KIC, guiding it from inception to its current community of partners from academia, business and government, and working to bring innovation for low-carbon prosperity and climate resilience.

Professor Ritter was awarded the OBE in 2014 for her service to scientific research and innovation.

She is currently Climate-KIC’s International Ambassador, dedicated to extending the organisation’s global impact.
