Dr Sim, a Senior Lecturer from the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at Curtin University, is a dedicated researcher, educator, advocate and community pharmacist, whose research focuses on how to better support pharmacists and community pharmacies in the industry.

Curtin graduate Ms Ayomide Ogundipe, from Curtin’s School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, was also named the 2019 Australian Intern Pharmacist of the Year, which recognises intern pharmacists who demonstrate outstanding performance in their development as professional pharmacists.

Curtin University Faculty of Health Sciences Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Archie Clements congratulated both Dr Sim and Ms Ogundipe on their success at the national awards.

“Dr Sim is a leader and innovative educator who has dedicated her career to positively impacting the lives of the general Australian population. Her commitment to the profession has helped to provide stronger support for the pharmacists of the future, as well as the tools they will need to better succeed in their profession,” Professor Clements said.

“I would like to congratulate Dr Sim on receiving this prestigious accolade and wish her all the best in her future career.”

Dr Sim said she was honoured to be recognised at the annual awards alongside other inspirational and leading professionals.

“I am delighted to have received this award for my work in the industry. What I have achieved would not be possible without the support from my colleagues and mentors, who have all made significant and lasting impacts to the pharmaceutical profession and industry,” Dr Sim said.

The award winners were recognised at the 2019 PSA’s national flagship conference held in Sydney last week.
