Curtin University’s ‘The Box’ marketing campaign scooped a major international advertising award in New York last night.

Curtin University and The Brand Agency picked up a Bronze Award for Use of Media in the Integrated Campaigns category at the 33rd John Caples International Awards.

This latest honour adds to an already impressive list of awards. The Box scored Gold at The Effies and Account Planning Group (APG) Awards, as well as Best in Show at the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) Awards and Bronze at the Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) Awards.

An online support-based community targeted at year 11 and 12 students, The Box allowed for online interaction between students and Curtin experts.

It also provided relevant tools and information to help students get through their final years of school. Key features of the website include forums, blogs, live chats, and social networking.

Val Raubenheimer, Vice President, Corporate Relations and Development at Curtin University, said this latest honour reflects the success of the campaign.

“The Box is an innovative campaign that allowed us to reach out directly to future students and help them to make the right decisions about their future,” Ms Raubenheimer said.

“This award sees a Western Australian campaign competing on the world stage and winning out against some tough competition,” she said.

“We’re immensely proud to have been a part of this innovative campaign which reflects Curtin’s growing international reputation as a world-class institution.”

The Box beat out an impressive field of international brands, including Fisher & Paykel, Schweppes and Fosters Group.

The Brand Agency was Perth’s only winner on a big night for Australian and New Zealand agencies.

The John Caples International Awards honour the best in direct and interactive marketing around the world. The awards are judged by more than 60 active, senior-level, international creative professionals, and between 200- 300 creatives and marketers from around the world attend the annual awards gala.
