Over the next six weeks Curtin University graduates will be asked to share their ‘lightbulb moment’ as the University launches its inaugural Alumni Annual Appeal.

During the Appeal, students, also known as ‘Alumni Appeal Ambassadors’, will contact alumni and ask them to reflect on the role Curtin has played in their life’s decisions and the paths they took post-university.

Alumni will also be invited to make a donation to the University, with funds raised during the Appeal helping to create new opportunities for those students with boundless potential but limited means, as well as helping students and recent graduates to get innovative ideas off the ground.

Curtin University’s Chief Advancement Officer, Ms Celia Hurley, said the appeal was an important initiative for the University to become more connected with its alumni.

“The appeal is a fantastic fundraising and engagement opportunity that will support vital scholarship and innovation programs,” Ms Hurley said.

“We are always looking for creative ways to reconnect and engage with our alumni community. This opportunity will allow current students to learn about our former students and gain an insight into the careers they have gone on to succeed in.”

Graduates will be given the opportunity to support the Alumni Futures Fund Scholarships, Curtin WA School of Mines Endowment Scholarship Fund, and Alumni Innovation Fund: Accelerate, or direct their gift to their chosen faculty.

The Appeal is launched during Curtin’s ‘50 Years of Innovation’ – recognising the combined history of the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT), which opened in 1967, and Curtin University, which accepted its first students in 1987.

The Appeal will run for six weeks, from Wednesday 13 September to Tuesday 24 October.
