Strong links between Curtin Business School and industry have lead to the creation of four new scholarships that will give future students the opportunity to gain first hand experience with industry leaders while they study.

The Curtin Business School (CBS) Industry Scholarships will extend the student learning experience to four innovative workplaces: PriceWaterhouseCoopers, RAC, Australia Post and Bankwest. Scholarship winners will have paid work at each of these companies to learn from a key mentor and gain first-hand experience in the work environment, while also completing their university education.

Professor Duncan Bentley, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Business School said the Scholarship program will offer recipients a head start in business.

“The Scholarships will provide recipients with the ultimate learning experience. They will learn from industry leaders and will have the opportunity to build their networks through the four companies,” Professor Bentley said.

“The demand for professional experience can be overwhelming for graduates when they first enter the workforce. The Scholarship program ensures that CBS works closely with industry to match university-level talent with real-world opportunities.”

The four recipients of this Scholarship will be awarded a $5000 annual cash payment over the course of the degree and undertake vacation employment with the companies.

The Scholarships are available to students enrolling in the first year of an undergraduate degree at Curtin Business School in 2009.
