Media training sessions available through Curtin media relations team

Introduction to media:

This introductory workshop presented by the media relations team covers topics from how and why to engage with the media to handy tip and tricks from media savvy academics. This session is suggested for all academics prior to interacting with the media.

Curtin FM live interview:

For academics who have completed introduction to media – join presenter Jenny Seaton on Curtin FM’s Afternoons program for a live on-air interview followed by a personalised feedback session. Participants will also receive a copy of their interview recording.

Advanced media training:

An advanced session, with input from a senior journalist, provides experienced media commentators with additional interview techniques. Featuring one-on-one practical interview scenarios. This half-day session is for those who want to take their engagement to the next level.

The Conversation:

Join an editor from The Conversation as they provides an overview of The Conversation, how it works and how Curtin academics can get involved. These sessions are beneficial for academics who wish to know more about writing for the online site and what they are looking for.

Australian Science Media Centre:

Join the AusSMC media team for a free online workshop on communicating controversial science (1hr).
