Success at the 2021 Western Invitational

News story

From 28 September to 1 October, Curtin athletes competed in the 2021 Western Invitational hosted by ECU. These games were a great success for Curtin with our teams winning two golds, two silvers, and one bronze.

The two gold efforts consisted of Mixed Touch Football, where Curtin beat ECU in the grand final, and Men’s Futsal. The futsal final was also between Curtin and ECU, coming down to two halves of extra time and then penalties. All five of Curtin’s shooters scored in the penalty round, whilst Curtin’s goalkeeper heroically saving ECU’s fourth shot, allowing them to reign victorious.

Curtin received second place for both Women and Men’s Volleyball. The women lost to ECU and the men lost to Notre Dame in what were both intense and nail-biting finals.

The Women’s Basketball team put up a great fight, placing third overall. Mixed Netball placed fourth and Men’s Basketball placed eighth.

Congratulations to the students who participated. As always, you’ve made us very proud.
