Continental collisions: from Norway to Australia

News story

Globe-straddling work into geological land mass collisions dating back hundreds of millions of years has seen TIGeR (The Institute for Geoscience Research) Director Andrew Putnis awarded Curtin’s highest honour for academic staff: the title of John Curtin Distinguished Professor.

After 40 years in Europe, Professor Putnis is back in Australia, turning his talents to endeavours such as the CSIRO project to find ways of extracting metals from ore bodies deep in the Earth.
